Jesus: Our Example of True Humanity

Jesus shows us what it means to live fully under God’s guidance. His humility and understanding set a standard for us to follow.

“For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.”
— John 13:15 ESV

Jesus lived a life of perfect obedience and humility, showing us how to be truly human under God’s direction. His life is a guide for living in complete surrender to God’s will. Yet, we often struggle to embrace His truth and follow His commandments.

Jesus’s humility and compassion reflect the heart of God. He understands our struggles, doubts, and fears. He knows what it means to face temptation and yet remain sinless. His life on earth shows us how to live in alignment with God’s will.

Jesus understands us like no other and longs for us to believe in Him and follow His commandments, not out of obligation, but out of love.

But many of us drift away from His teachings. Ignoring the truths of Scripture brings sorrow to Jesus. He might ask us, “Why do my people not believe in me? Why do they reject me? Why do they not walk in my commandments?” These questions pierce our hearts and reveal the gap between our faith and our actions.

Jesus’s teachings live and act to transform us. Ignoring them means missing out on the fullness of life He offers. Choosing our way over His rejects the abundant life He promises. His commandments, given out of love, protect and guide us.

How can we bridge the gap between knowing Jesus and truly following Him? It starts with a genuine desire to know Him deeply, to understand His heart and desires for our lives. Reflect on Jesus’s questions today. Write them down and honestly answer them. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas in your life needing realignment with His teachings. Commit to making small, intentional changes to walk in His commandments.

Pray: “Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus, who lived as the perfect example for me. Help me believe in Him wholeheartedly, embrace His truth, and walk faithfully in His commandments. Holy Spirit, guide me and give me the strength to live out my faith each day. In Jesus’s name, Amen.”
