Do It Courageously

Have you been given an assignment but are afraid you can’t do it? Courage isn’t the lack of fear. It is doing it scared.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
– Isaiah 41:10 ESV

When the grieving women went to visit Jesus’ tomb to anoint him with burial spices, they wondered who was going to roll away the very heavy stone for them. They then received the surprise of their lives. The stone was rolled away. A bright and shining angel stood there. They were paralyzed. Wouldn’t you be?

Instead of giving them a stern talking to about their fear and unbelief, the angel told them not to be afraid and invited them to see that Jesus had risen from the dead.

They ran to tell the good news “afraid yet filled with joy” (Matthew 28:8).

These women were loyal to Jesus or they wouldn’t be there in the first place. They didn’t understand all that was happening, but they were there out of love. Because they showed up, they were given the important task of going quickly to tell Jesus’ disciples the miraculous news. With racing hearts and bewildered minds, they hurried away.

Have you experienced saving faith through Jesus Christ? You know the joy He gives. Do you remember a time you talked about what He’s done for you and the courage it took? Think of someone in your life who needs Him now.

Today’s One Thing
Pray and ask God to show you at least one person you can talk to this week about Jesus. Ask Him to give you the words. Then share the good news of your faith in Christ and what He is doing in your life.
