Does God Already Have Your Yes?
I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me. I cling to your testimonies, O Lord; let me not be put to shame! I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart!
─ Psalm 119:30-32 ESV
Does God Already Have Your Yes?
Do you struggle to hear God sometimes? We all do. But throughout Scripture we learn that the one who hears from God has a heart that obeys Him. God had Abraham’s yes, before He ever spoke to him. Before He ever commanded him to travel far away from all Abraham knew, to leave his family and go to a land God would show him, God had his “yes.” Abraham followed God not knowing where God would lead him or what challenges he would face.
That’s what the psalmist is expressing in our verses today. He chose to be faithful to God and obey him even when God did not provide all the details. He knew God’s rules and believed the testimonies of all God had done in his own life and in the lives of others. He promised God to do what He commanded, and trusted God to help him have a heart to obey.
When God has your yes, before He ever speaks, then you are completely His. Your yes is evidence of complete surrender. You listen to God with every intention to obey. Your ears are tuned to hear Him, and your stance is positioned and ready to take action.
Today’s One Thing
Are you fully surrendered to God? Reread the psalmist’s words. Now pray them aloud to God as your own. Listen for God to give you direction and instruction this week.
