Encourage and Support Fellow Believers
Who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
─ 1 Thessalonians 5:10-11 ESV
Encourage and Support Fellow Believers
Have you ever heard someone say, “You’ll never know how much” … “I love you,” or “we appreciate you,” but fail to express the words you long to hear. People move in and out of the lives of others with important words of affirmation and appreciation left unsaid. How sad for those who never hear what a difference their influence and love make in the lives of those around them.
Throughout Scripture we are instructed to encourage one another. Paul gave many examples of how we can express our support for fellow believers. No matter what he needed to address in his letters, he affirmed others in his writings. Most of his letters began by sharing with readers what he appreciated most about them.
Our verse today is one example. We are to build each other up by identifying a quality we appreciate in someone and verbalizing it.
Friends, family members and total strangers need affirmation in some way.
