Faith – a Journey of Trust

From the very moment the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her she would have a baby, Mary walked by faith. With her words, she agreed to join God on a journey and trust Him every step of the way.

And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
─ Luke 1:38 ESV

Put yourself in Mary’s sandals for a moment as she traveled to Bethlehem with her husband to obey the law. Her journey with Joseph from Nazareth to Bethlehem was difficult, especially for a woman about to give birth. The cities were about 70 miles apart, a three-day hike. You can easily envision Mary asking why the census had to be now and wondering if she’d get back home before the baby was born.

Yet Mary and Joseph, the couple the Father chose to humanly parent His Son, were faithful and obeyed the decree of Caesar. They did what was necessary and trusted God for the outcome. The inn, the manger, the shepherds, all that makes the Christmas story even more of a miracle, may not have happened without their dutiful perseverance.

Trust God to lead you on a journey of a lifetime.

Don’t be afraid to take whatever journey of faith God requires of you. God wants to take you on a journey that will never end. He has plans for you just as He had for Mary and Joseph.

Today’s One Thing
Imagine yourself putting your hand in the hand of Jesus and allowing Him to lead you on this journey of faith. Whatever God’s asked you to do, take the first step in obedience. See where your faith leads you!
