Focus on God’s Intentions

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

─ Hebrews 4:12

The Word of God is living, powerful and active. It reveals the thoughts and the intentions of our lives. To know God’s intentions for our lives, we have to read scripture –where He shares His intentions with us.

For example, we can look at what the Bible has to say in regard to parenting. God instructs us in Ephesians 6:4, that as parents we are not to exasperate our children but bring them up in the fear and the admonition of the Lord. The many ways we can tend to exasperate our children are by being too controlling, not having clear sense of direction for our family and not being consistent.

Scripture teaches us the many principles we can use in our desire to learn God’s intentions for our lives. When we read God’s Word, a peace starts to develop, we receive direction and we begin to understand God’s purpose for our lives.

Today’s One Thing

Put time for reading the Bible into your daily schedule. Then act on that commitment every day.
