Full of God’s Goodness
“Everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness.”
—2 Peter 1:3 TPT
Many people are considered “good” people by others because they adhere to some kind of moral code and fit into society’s definition of a good person. But when the rich, young ruler referred to him as “Good Teacher,” Jesus corrected him saying that no one is good but God (Luke 18:19).
Jesus shared the only way to live a truly good life is to stay close to him. Peter explains in our verse today that as Christ followers, we have everything we could ever need for life and godliness already residing inside of us by God’s divine power.
God is powerful and He uses His power to help us overcome! The spirit of the living God dwells in us and we have everything we need (1 Corinthians 3:16; 2 Peter 1:3). He has called us by name and invited us to taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8). Rest and be still in the goodness of God!
No matter what, God is good!
Today’s One Thing
Take in the goodness of God this week. It’s probably been awhile since you laid down in the grass and looked at the clouds, so make it a point to do that. In the stillness, contemplate on where God is moving and what He is doing in your life.
