Get Close to God through Prayer
As you spend time with God, He draws you near to Him.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
– Psalm 34:18 ESV
When you are struggling, what is your first thought? Do you go to God and talk with Him about it? So often, we are so quick to attempt to solve the problems that surround us on our own. We can forget Who has all the answers and we struggle to figure things out. God says to draw near to Him and He will draw near to you (James 4:8 paraphase).
Talking to God throughout your day brings peace and confidence in Him.
I Thessalonians 5:17 encourages you to “pray without ceasing” (ESV). It takes focused effort to do that as you go about your day. Before you make that call, ask God to lead the conversation. Before you sit down at your desk to work, pray and ask God to guide you. As you drive, talk to God about what is ahead of you as you reach your destination. He is right there with you and eager to hear what is on your heart. He is waiting to answer your call for help, understanding, healing or peace.
As you read the Bible, pray about what God puts on your heart and mind. Pray back to God what it says several times so His Word becomes ingrained into your thoughts.
Today’s One Thing
Find a private place to talk aloud to God in prayer about what is on your heart and thank Him for how He is answering you.
