Go Ahead and Trouble God

“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

─ 1 Peter 5:10

Don’t bother God…that’s really what the people following Jesus were saying to Jairus that day (Mark 5:35). When the news reached Jairus that his daughter was dead, others suggested he give up. After all, there were a lot of other people in need.

But Jesus, overhearing their conversation, encouraged Jairus to trust Him. His simple words, “Do not be afraid; only believe,” gave Jairus hope that Jesus would and could heal his daughter. It also told him that Jesus valued him, his faith and that he was worth His time. Once they reached Jairus’ house, Jesus restored his daughter completely to him.

The Bible could tell a completely different story if Jairus had listened to those bearing the bad news. What if he’d said, “Oh, no Jesus, don’t waste your time. These other people need you more than I do.”

How often do we perform self-assessments and determine our problems are too small to trouble God with? We may even try to handle it on our own, inerrantly thinking it will give Him more time for bigger problems others have.

God stands outside of time. He isn’t constrained to time like we are (Psalm 90:4). He is with us always, available to assist us with the smallest challenges or the toughest battles of our lives.

God wants the opportunity to help you with whatever challenge your facing – big or small.
