His Word Proves True

This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

─ Psalm 18:30 ESV

Annie stepped out on the back porch and slunk down into her overstuffed porch swing. It had been a very long week. She felt tension in her back and neck. Stress, she thought. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, doing her best to force herself to relax.

She looked out across her front yard as the last of the sunlight slipped over the horizon. “It’s late, Lord,” she prayed. “I let go of the cares I’ve carried today. Your ways are perfect, and your Word is true. Shield me from the weight the world tries to place upon my shoulders. I take refuge in you.”

Psalm 18:30 confirms what we know … God’s word proves true. We can take His Word and pray it over our lives. His Word will never return void, but always goes out and accomplishes what He said it would do (Isaiah 55:11). We can trust our heavenly Father to bring His perfect plan forth in our lives when we agree with Him.

Today’s One Thing

What promises from God are you speaking? What scriptures are you praying? This week remember His Word proves true. Here are three promises to agree with God in prayer for your life today:

  • The Lord will perfect that which concerns me (Psalm 138:8).
  • Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you (Psalm 91:9-10).
  • He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength (Isaiah 40:29).
