Invite God to Use Your Pain and Discomfort

“God is showing me that I am not enough like Jesus yet. His grace invites me daily not to be discouraged by that, but to continue to allow sanctification to be a reality,” Brooke Ligertwood, platinum recording artist and Grammy-award winning songwriter, producer and worship leader, shared.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

– Romans 8:28 NIV

In a world that incessantly bombards us with information, challenges and trials, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But you have a promise that God will work everything out to your good because you love Him. How might your perspective change if you remind yourself that He may be using that very thing that is causing you pain and discomfort to mold you, refine you and make you more like Him?

Consider each challenge as a steppingstone, every trial a refining fire, molding you into His likeness.

You can embrace this process by shifting your perspective. Instead of asking why something is happening to you, consider asking God what you can learn as you go through it. You can find comfort in prayer, seek God’s wisdom and guidance and lean on His understanding and not your own.

Remember, sanctification isn’t a sprint but a lifelong marathon. With every step, you’re becoming more like Jesus. Embrace the journey.

Today’s One Thing

Set aside 10 minutes each day this week, preferably in the morning or before bed. Meditate on Romans 8:28 and James 1:2-4. Reflect on the trials you face and actively invite God into them. Ask Him for the strength to endure, the wisdom to understand and the grace to grow.
