Life Changing Opportunity

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

Vicky’s struggle to belong – somewhere to someone – started at a very young age. The youngest of three children, her parent’s divorce left her grasping for someone to hold on to at just four years old. Her father took her and her siblings to another state, far away from any family she knew. She seldom saw her mother, and shortly after her sixth birthday, her father married a woman with two younger children. Her father worked out of town a lot, and her stepmother was overwhelmed with the challenge to blend her new family with little help from Vicky’s father.

One cool Saturday afternoon, Vicky and her older siblings played outside to avoid doing more chores in the house. A brightly colored blue and white school bus pulled into the driveway and a nice young man and woman stepped out as Vicky’s stepmother came out to greet them.

Vicky quickly discovered it wasn’t a school bus, but a church bus that brought the young man and woman to her home. That bus visit ended up having an internal impact on Vicky’s family. It would soon carry her into the saving arms of Jesus and into a community to which she would forever belong.
