Live Each Day in Forgiveness

Imagine a person who lived during the era of the biblical prophets trying to understand a promise that someone would come to earth and pay for your sins. It’s one thing to sacrifice a lamb in exchange for your sins for the year, and quite another to believe the Son of God would come to earth and give His life to pay for all you ever did wrong over your lifetime.

He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
─ Isaiah 53:5 AMPC

God shared His promise with the people of Isaiah’s day to bring hope for eternal life, and glimpse the suffering of the coming Messiah that would allow forgiveness to become available to every human being.

As you look at the verses today, it affirms that Jesus understands you completely. He willingly gave Himself for you.

  • He intimately knows your grief because he bore it.
  • He understands your sorrow and pain because he carried it.
  • Jesus took your punishment for your transgression, guilt and iniquities.
  • In exchange, He gave you His peace and wholeness
  • Because of His affliction, you can walk in healing.

PQ: Jesus did it all for you!

Jesus’ humility, suffering and mercy purchased your freedom. He did it all for you so that you could live free from sin’s prison.

Today’s One Thing
Thank God today for your freedom to live in His forgiveness. If you are holding someone captive in your heart by refusing to forgive them, choose to set them free. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you take that action today.
