Loaded with Benefits

Bless the Lord, my soul, And do not forget any of His benefits; Who pardons all your guilt, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with favor and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

─ Psalm 103:2-5 NASB

Loaded with Benefits

Employers who want the very best employees know it’s really important to provide the best benefits they possibly can to attract the most qualified candidates for their workforce. If you worked for one of these companies but never took advantage of the benefits they offered, you may not think very highly of your compensation package.

God’s benefits are freely available to every single child adopted into the kingdom of God. But often the reality is missed of just how blessed you truly are, because you belong to Him.

In our verses today, David is doing a little self-talk. He’s speaking to his soul, saying, “Soul, listen up! Bless the Lord and remember all the good things God’s given you. He then lists a few of the benefits God provides you as His child.

  • forgiveness
  • healing
  • redemption (Don’t skip over this one; he bought you back at great personal cost.)
  • love and compassion
  • satisfaction
  • renewal
  • righteousness
  • justice

It’s easy to complain about life. It takes courage and effort to look to God, and thank Him for the good He is doing in your life. You have so much to praise God for, starting with David’s list in our verse today.

Today’s One Thing

Choose one of the benefits from David’s list and pour over how this benefit is at work in your life. If you struggle to see it, ask God to reveal it to you in a very personal way, today!
