Look Up!

Then the word of the Lord came to [Abraham]: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

─ Genesis 15:4-5 ESV

Look Up!

Have you ever grown weary waiting on something you believed God promised you? Maybe you’re waiting right now – for a hard season in life to end … for a child to return to Christ … for your financial situation to get better.

Abraham, the father of many nations, questioned God about the promise he had not yet received. He said, “Lord, you said I’d be the father of many nations, and yet I don’t have an heir – and I am old! Will my servant become my heir?” (paraphrased).

And God’s response to Abraham, in our verse today, is also His answer for you today. “Look up!” Look to heaven. Look to God, the Creator of heaven and earth, because that’s where your answer is going to come from.

Today’s One Thing

What are you asking God for? Write it down and put it in a place where you’ll see it every day. Then wait with patience, trusting Him with expectation of great things.
