Optimum Relationship

“Hey, let’s grab a cup of coffee,” or “Let’s do lunch,” are expressions often used with a colleague or a friend that suggest an opportunity to have a conversation and strengthen a relationship. Once the encounter occurs, most often, you will leave uplifted, challenged or reinvigorated.

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

– Psalm 145:18 ESV

Coffee or lunch are not required to spend time with the Lord and strengthen your relationship with Him. His invitation to you is extended without any schedule restrictions or conflicts. He is not asking you for an appointment day and time. He invites you to spend time with Him. The time is now and always.

You are significant, and the Lord wants to know you. Like a parent with a young child, when you spend time with Him, He reveals more of Himself to you.

Prayer is a relationship builder.

Imagine the Lord audibly asking you, “How are you doing?” or “What’s bothering you?”

The Lord genuinely cares about you and your prayers. He wants to hear about the things that excite you, the things you enjoy and appreciate, and the concerns that bother you.

He desires to have continuous conversation with you. Let yourself be honest and transparent in your prayer. You’re not perfect, and your time with the Lord is between the two of you without structure or boundaries. Just sitting quietly together is powerful because you are with Him.

Today’s One Thing

Tell the Lord what makes you happy and excited. Share with Him your needs and worries. The Lord wants a stronger relationship with you because He loves you.
