Raised from Death to Life

Don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Raised from Death to Life

Can you imagine sharing the experience with Jesus as He was raised up out of the grave? Would you have felt the earth shake beneath the place your body laid? Would you have heard the stone roll away? What did it feel like when that resurrection power hit your dead body and brought you back to life?

Imagine yourself raised up from the dead. Waking up, wrapped in death clothes and removing them yourself. Smell the precious oils and perfumes that loved ones had poured out to preserve your body. Then imagine what it felt like to put on clean, fresh clothes and walk out of the grave to be reunited with loved ones, friends and even those who took part in your death.

That’s what Peter is saying in our verse today. In the same manner Jesus was physically raised from death to life, you were spiritually raised from death to life. You were dead spiritually. Then God breathed on you and infused you with His Holy Spirit bringing you back to life spiritually.

Today’s One Thing

Remember back to when you first felt that new life flowing through you. Let that excitement not just continue to change your life each day but use your life in Christ to draw others to experience His resurrection life. Share your story with someone today.
