Raised to Life
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
─1 Peter 1:3-5 ESV
Raised to Life
If you’ve raised children, then you probably have some idea what it feels like to be a part of the walking dead, unless you’re one of the few whose child miraculously slept all night long. No one is ever as sleep deprived as a parent who gets very little sleep, if any, during that first year of their baby’s life.
Think about yourself or others who have traveled that specific journey. The long days, the pots of coffee, going to work and trying to remember things. Mumbling back in reply to others because you didn’t really hear what they said.
That’s an image of who we are before we are saved. We are “dead to life.” But then we experience the revelation of Christ. We find that we no longer have to live the life of mediocrity.
In our verses today, Peter declares we are called to a living hope. And once we accept Christ, no matter what the trials of this life that we face, your soul is forever safe in the hands of God, the Father.
