Step Out of the Nest

In Christ, you have the power to rise above challenges, overcome obstacles and achieve your God-given dreams.

They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

– Isaiah 40:31 ESV

The mother eagle provides a nurturing and secure environment for her eaglets. With gentle nudges and encouragement, she pushes them closer and closer to the edge of the nest. Yet, she never leaves their side, ready to catch them if they falter or stumble.

Imagine the exhilaration the eaglets experience as they spread their wings and feel the rush of wind beneath them for the first time as they flap and fall. Mother bird “flutters over its young, spreading out its wings, catching them, bearing them on its pinions” (Deuteronomy 32:11 ESV).

They ride on her wings back to the safety of the nest until it is time to try again. Soon with each flap of their wings, they discover their God-given power to soar, reaching higher altitudes than they ever thought possible.

The eaglets, feeling the warmth and support of their mother, learn to trust in their wings and their God-given ability. Just as the eaglets wait for their mother’s guidance and timing, we too wait for the Lord, our ever-present source of strength and renewal.

Allow your faith to be your wings, propelling you forward and helping you rise above weariness and doubt.

The eaglets’ journey to flight begins with a single, courageous step off the edge of the nest, embracing the unknown with faith. Picture yourself stepping into the unknown, trusting in God’s plan that awaits you. Give Him any doubts or fears that hold you back and surrender to the possibility that lies ahead of you.

Waiting on the Lord does not mean idly sitting by but rather actively seeking guidance and relying on His timing. Embrace each opportunity to step out of the nest of your comfort zone, knowing that God is there to catch you if you stumble.

Today’s One Thing

Reflect on an area of your life where you have been hesitant to take a step forward. It could be a new project, a personal goal or a challenging decision. Trust in the Lord’s guidance and timing, knowing that as you wait on Him, your strength will be renewed and you will soar to new heights.
