Thanksgiving Overflowing

As you have therefore received Christ, [even] Jesus the Lord, [so] walk (regulate your lives and conduct yourselves) in union with and conformity to Him. Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving.

─ Colossians 2:6-7 AMPC

Thanksgiving Overflowing

Curtis plopped down onto the couch with such a thud that it jarred his wife, Marci, who held their baby. “What’s wrong now?” Marci asked with frustration in her voice.

Her tone shook Curtis, and he turned and looked at his wife and healthy baby. Marci watched his countenance change.

“Well,” he smiled. “I was just about to complain to you about something, but now I realize it is very insignificant … because I truly have so much to be thankful to God for.” And he leaned over and kissed her on the forehead.

It is easy to become consumed, focused on the little irritations throughout the day and lose perspective of the things God has provided. Refuse to allow the difficult challenges in life to overwhelm you. Make a decision to focus on the good God has given and choose to overflow with thanksgiving to Him.

Today’s One Thing

Practice a heart of gratefulness by making a list of five things you are truly thankful for each day this week. Here’s five to get you started today:

  1. God is faithful to me.
  2. God has given me life and breath.
  3. I have what I need for today.
  4. I celebrate the peace I have because I belong to Him.
  5. I am thankful for the relationships God has blessed me with.
