The Bible Tells Me So
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
─ Deuteronomy 29:29
“I’m a bit of a control freak,” Jerrod admitted to his mentor, Jake. “I want to know all the details, but God just doesn’t do that for me. He only gives me small nudges toward what He wants me to do, or I find glimpses of my circumstances in His Word and that helps me make good decisions. But I find myself wanting so much more.”
Jake smiled knowingly. “We want God to just tell us how it all unfolds sometimes. It’s our human nature. God’s ways are so much higher than ours; we have to trust Him and walk it out in faith.”
God chooses not to disclose some mysteries to us. We cannot fully understand the immeasurable features of His nature. Some things require maturity on our part before He can reveal those secrets to us. There are just some things we are not meant to know.
God’s Word provides glimpses of revelation that speaks to our hearts and helps us understand Him more, allows us to know His will for our lives and gives us an image in our hearts of who God is and what He desires for us and from us.
Today’s One Thing
Take some time this week to read the Bible with new eyes. Ask God to give you eyes to see and a heart to better understand His truths and how they pertain specifically to His will for your life.
