The Hope of Eternal Life

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

—1 Peter 1:3 

What a joy to know how much God loves us! He loves us every minute of every day, no matter who we are or what we’ve done. When we turn to Him, God wraps us in His arms and showers us with unending and unchanging mercy and grace.

We don’t deserve this. We cannot earn it by being perfect or hardworking or knowledgeable. This is not a “give or take” situation; after all, what could we truly offer up to the Lord that would be truly worthy of all that He has done for us? Our love and faith. That’s all He asks of us: to love Him and walk with Him (Micah 6:8) and to accept the sacrifice of His Son as our resurrected redeemer.

In return, He promises to love and care for us, to guide us in His way, and to give us eternal life. This is a blessing that also gives us an eternal hope. No matter how we struggle here on earth—and we will— God will never abandon us. We can hold onto hope in His name.
