The Lord Celebrates Us

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

─ Zephaniah 3:17

Selina closed her eyes. It had been a long time since she’d been to church and spent time in prayer with God. She could think of a multitude of excuses as to why, but she knew she’d pushed herself away from God. But He’d been whispering softly to her in her heart. She would catch a glimpse of His love in the sunset as she drove home from work or a single thought of something He’d done for her in the past as she drifted off to sleep.

Selina made the decision one Sunday morning to go back to church. The sound of the worship music pressed in on her like a light cloud. The Lord’s presence poured over her. He loved her in spite of all her past decisions and lack of attention to Him. He invited her back into his arms.

Soft tears flowed freely down her face. She refused to wipe them. She wept unashamed as she quietly confessed her hurts, pains and failures to him. She asked sincerely for forgiveness as she surrendered to Him. She felt His embrace and she rejoiced with Him.

The Lord is with us. He sings over us, too. Celebrate the reality that He takes great delight in us. He created us and takes great pleasure in who we are

Today’s One Thing

As you go throughout your day today, pause every once in a while, and think about the Lord celebrating who He created you to be.
