The Unseen Work of God
Like the subtle awakening of spring, the most profound growth often occurs out of sight, in the quiet depths of your heart. This unseen growth is evidence of the nurturing power of patience in your walk with God. Think of a seed planted in fertile soil; it doesn’t sprout overnight. It requires time, care and the unseen work of God.
As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.
– 2 Thessalonians 3:13 ESV
Patience is more than waiting; it’s active endurance and steadfastness. It’s about continuing to do good and trusting in God’s timing, even when the results are not immediately visible. Even when the external signs of your transformation have yet to appear, you must trust that God is shaping and refining you.
Consider a farmer who patiently tends to his fields. He can’t hurry the growth of his crops, nor can he immediately see the fruits of his labor. But he knows that through his diligent care and God’s provision, a harvest will come. In your spiritual life, embrace this farmer’s patience. Nurture your faith with prayer, Scripture and fellowship, trusting that you will see the fruits in due time.
Your faith, rooted in the love of God, needs patience to flourish and reach its full potential.
Growth is a process with ups and downs, moments of clarity and periods of doubt. When you find yourself struggling, remember that God’s love for you is unwavering. He is with you in every step, nurturing and guiding you.
Let your heart find comfort in knowing that your spiritual journey is a beautiful work in progress, crafted by the hands of a loving God.
Today’s One Thing
As you pray today, ask God to reassure you that you are growing spiritually. Affirm to yourself, “Today, I choose to be patient with myself and others, trusting in God’s perfect timing, and commit to showing the same unconditional love that I have received from Him.”
