What Are You Declaring?

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

─ Romans 10:9-10 NKJV

Something powerful happens when we declare our intention as a follower of Christ to other people. Today’s scripture confirms that is a part of the process — not that your words are going to impress God — but your words are evidence of what’s going on inside your heart. As believers in Jesus Christ, we should declare our intentions about our family, about our finances, about the things that we teach, about our faith, about how we live our lives.

Declaring your intentions clarifies, builds your faith and eliminates other options. It inspires you with hope, holds you accountable and sets you apart from other people.

We all have moments in time when we need to make a declaration.

  • “This is where I stand.”
  • “This is what I believe.”
  • “This is where we’re going.”

Joshua declared: “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”  We need more of that today.  We are being pushed and shoved into a mold of our society.  The way we think, the way we act, the way we live is being challenged every day.

If we don’t choose to be intentional in a loving clarity of the rectitude of our intentions, we are going to get washed away. As a believer we need to be more convinced than ever of what our intentions are. High intentions are required to be a follower of Christ as well as obedience to Him.
