Worth the Rewards

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

─ 1 Peter 1:3

Eric wasn’t surprised to see his nephew, Blake pull into the driveway. “We’re having burgers tonight … want to join us?” Eric teased, knowing full well that was why Blake had stopped by.

“Yep! I’d love to,” Blake began as he grabbed a cookie off the counter and sat down to watch his uncle prep the meat. In a more serious tone he asked, “Uncle Eric, have you ever been afraid to obey God?”

“Sure, lots of times,” he replied. “But I’ve learned over the years that I will never regret obeying God. I can look back now and see that every time God asked me to do something, it was always for my good. I have more regrets about the times I didn’t follow His direction. And those regrets prompt me to obey Him now as fast as I can.”

“I know that God is good. He will only ask me to do things that will bring me blessing and increase,” Blake confessed. “Still, it’s hard because I know the path won’t be easy. I have to believe that the challenges I’m going to face will be nothing compared to the reward of obeying Him.”
