You Have the Best Friend

No matter what you are facing today, you are not alone. Take courage as you walk with your most loyal and mighty friend, Jesus.

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

– Proverbs 18:24 ESV

Based on a true story, the movie, The King’s Speech, tells the story of King George VI, Albert, known as “Bertie,” who was thrust into his position when his brother abdicated the throne.

Bertie’s main job was to speak to the British people and boldly reassure them during World War II. But there was one overwhelming problem. Whenever Bertie spoke publicly, he stammered so severely it was almost impossible for him to say anything.

Jesus is with you to help you through your challenging days.

Speech therapists and doctors went to the palace and attempted to help Bertie, but were unable to, until one man, Lionel Logue, came along. Lionel was a speech therapist, and he insisted the king go to his office, where he developed such trust that Bertie eventually went to his home. As Lionel helped the king address his fears, they became close friends.

Bertie and Lionel worked together until Bertie overcame his stammer. With his friend by his side, Bertie was able to broadcast speeches that inspired courage among the people of Great Britain during the extremely difficult war years.

You have a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Jesus is there with you in the challenging times and the good times. No matter what your title is, it’s okay to seek help as you maneuver through life bent on doing what God has placed in front of you.
