Walk for Hope at SVSU

08/06/2023 @ 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Free

Please join the Barb Smith Suicide Resource & Response Network for our 21st annual Walk for Hope…a Mental Health and Suicide Awareness Event on
Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Saginaw Valley State University (Saginaw, MI.) The 5K Walk/Run raises funds and awareness to provide training and resources for mental health and suicide prevention. We anticipate 2,000 people coming together in support of our mission!

Doors open at 8:30am with opening ceremonies beginning at 10:00am. Joining us is our esteemed guest speaker, Chief Greg Flynn from West Bloomfield, speaking on his experiences as a fire chief and the founder of the Yellow Rose Campaign, which works to erase the stigma of asking for help, particularly amongst the firefighting and EMS communities. Additionally, there will be live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and resource tables. Non-walkers are welcome.

Participate in honor of someone who died by suicide, or in support of mental health awareness. Register online at SRRN.NET to start or join a team, donate, or volunteer.

Over 52.9 million people in the U.S. struggle with mental health issues and in 2020, we lost 45,979 people to suicide with 1,284 of the deaths here in Michigan. Let’s walk together. (CDC)

Register online at www.SRRN.NET or for more information call 989-781-5260 ext. 1.
