Jesus Encounters –Stories of Transformation Series

The account of Jesus bringing Jairus’ daughter back to life is usually told through the eyes of her father. But imagine for a moment that you are this young soul touched by the hand of Jesus, forever changed through a miraculous, death-defying encounter made possible by the transformative power of faith and the boundless love of our Savior.

Her story reminds us of the limitless mercy of God and the restorative grace that He freely gives to everyone who seek Him. We, too, can find hope in knowing that no situation is beyond the reach of His saving hand. “And taking her by the hand, he said to her, ‘Talitha cumi,’ which means, ‘Little girl, I say to you, arise’” (Mark 5:41 ESV).

First, He touched her, then He spoke to her.

This young girl, only known to us as Jairus’s daughter emerged from the veil of darkness. Like her, we must trust in Jesus and surrender our burdens at His feet. In doing so, we open ourselves to miracles found in His presence.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28 ESV).

Just as the daughter recalled the memories of her life before death, let us also reflect on our own past. In times of uncertainty, remember the moments when God’s providence guided us through storms, and His light shone upon our paths. Let those memories fuel our faith and reaffirm that God’s faithfulness endures forever.

“I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old” (Psalm 77:11 ESV).

The encounter with Jesus forever etched understanding of His healing touch in the daughter’s heart. His divine presence left an indelible mark on her spirit, teaching her that His love surpasses human comprehension.

And when we open our hearts to Jesus, we allow His love to permeate our beings and renew our souls.

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved” (Ephesians 2:4-5 ESV).

As the young girl journeyed back to life, so must we emerge from our comfort zones and step into the purpose God has ordained for each of us. Just as her resurrection impacted all who witnessed it, our transformed lives can become a testament to God’s power and grace, inspiring those around us to seek Him.

“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16 ESV).

Beyond the moment of miraculous healing, the daughter’s life most likely continued to be shaped by her encounter with Jesus. We can only imagine her inner transformation kindled a fiery devotion to her Savior, guiding her steps and leading others to faith. Similarly, our renewed spirits can lead us to greater heights, living lives of compassion, love and service to others.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV).
