God Doesn’t Waste Anything with Anne Wilson

God wants to use your story

As you journey through life, you may encounter unexpected tragedies or circumstances that leave you feeling lost or hopeless. But as Anne Wilson shared in her interview with Family Life Radio, God can use even the most difficult situations for good.

Anne’s story is a powerful reminder that God is always at work, even when we can’t see it. She believes that God doesn’t waste anything. “I have seen firsthand in my life how God has used the tragic death of my brother to bring other people to Him,” Anne said.

This belief is echoed throughout the Bible, from the story of Joseph in Genesis to the life of Jesus Himself. In Genesis 50:20, Joseph tells his brothers, who had sold him into slavery, “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today” (ESV). Similarly, in Romans 8:28, we read that “we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (ESV).

It can be difficult to see how God could use our pain and suffering for good, but He often does. “There’s a lot of bitter moments there, but … God is using my story to impact people,” Anne said. And just as God used Anne’s story to impact others, He can use your story too. You may never know how your experiences could encourage or inspire someone else, but you can trust that God is using them for a greater purpose.

Anne’s music career is another example of how God can use our talents and abilities for His glory. She believes that she wouldn’t be doing music if her brother hadn’t passed away. “And all these lives that are being saved through my songs, it wouldn’t have come about unless my brother had passed away,” Anne said.

Your gifts and talents are not just for your own benefit but are meant to be used to serve God and others. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace” (ESV).

One of the things Anne loves most about her music career is connecting with people, especially young girls who look up to her as a positive role model. “The joy that it brings them [young girls in the audience] …makes me so happy,” Anne said.

Your words and actions have the power to influence others, whether for good or bad. As a Christ follower, you should strive to be positive influences in the lives of those around you. “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16 ESV).

As you navigate the ups and downs of life, remember that God is with you every step of the way, and that He can use your experiences, your talents and your story for His glory.
