His Peace Is Your Decision

The coronavirus pandemic shut down much of the world and caused many to panic. Closer to home, America is one of the most stressed nations on the planet, at least partly because we are bombarded by constant news that can overwhelm us.
How do we experience peace during times like these?
God’s Word is not silent when it comes to the topic of peace. One of the best examples appears in John 14. In these verses, Jesus announces to His disciples that He will leave them soon and follows up this statement with an encouragement:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27 NIV)
Think about that for a minute – the disciples have been living and working alongside Jesus with no reason to think it would end. And then Jesus says, “Hey! I’m leaving!” Talk about losing your peace.
Change always threatens to disrupt. This pandemic certainly introduced plenty of change, but you have within you the peace of Christ. What that means is that you have a choice: you can either allow your circumstances to hijack your emotions or you can walk in the peace of your Savior.
God’s love for you is intentional. He sought you out and made you His own. So, choose today to accept the peace He offers and rest in the protection of His Son.
