The Unique Sound of Joseph O’Brien
When you listen to Joseph O’Brien’s music, you can hear the heart of a generation yearning for connection and truth. This Nashville-based singer/songwriter has found a niche for himself by crafting songs that resonate deeply with his peers. But what is it that fuels his creative process?
Joseph’s approach to songwriting is as intentional as it is inspired. “I just want to write music that I feel is really applicable to my generation or even younger and just, stuff that needs to be said,” he shares.
He often turns to online resources, searching for Bible topics to spark his creativity. “I love using those tools online because I feel like I’m a pretty simple writer. Sometimes… I need a little bit of something to spark my interest,” he explains.
A Family Rooted in Music
“I grew up in a family where we were like expected to sing… We would go around at Christmas time and sing Christmas carols.” he recalls.
His father, a musician with a knack for melody, passed on his love for music to Joseph. “Melodically everything comes so easily. That’s what my dad was like… I’m big melody guy,” Joseph says with a smile.
Faith at the Forefront
Joseph’s music is deeply intertwined with his faith. He sees his songs as a vehicle to inspire and encourage others. “I just knew—I had tennis and I had music and… every time, music won out,” he reflects. His commitment to his craft and his faith is evident in every note and lyric.
Joseph says, “Music was one of those few things that it didn’t seem like a burden to learn and grow in.” May his story encourage you to follow your passion and pursue the gifts God’s given you.
