When Inspirational Music Heals
God speaks to a million through Katy Nichole’s song
When Katy Nicole wrote the song “In Jesus Name,” she prayed for God to let it impact at least one person’s life. And God answered that prayer, touching the life of Thea from Roswell, NM.
Thea’s daughter had found a lump under her arm and was scared that it was cancer. Thea told her daughter that they needed to pray, and that’s when Katy’s song came on the radio station. The lyrics “I pray for your healing and your circumstances will change” spoke directly to Thea’s heart, and she knew that it was God speaking to her. She felt a sense of peace and comfort that only comes from God.

Thea story is just one example of how God speaks to hearts through Christian music and answers prayers, like the one Katy prayed. Proverbs 16:24 says, “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body” (ESV). And Romans 10:17 says, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (ESV).
God knows the power of words and the impact they can have on our lives. When we pray and ask God to use us to touch someone’s life, we may not always see the immediate impact. But we can trust that God is at work, and He will use our gifts in ways that we may never know.
When Katy posted just a little clip of the song on Tiktok, she prayed over that video. She told FLR she’d never done that before. Katy prayed, “Lord, use this in one person’s life … just one person. Katy said she knew there was something powerful about the prayer in the words of the song because she’d seen how the words moved within her own heart.
A few hours later, Katy came back and found the post had one million views. “I was completely mind blown in that moment,” Katy said, “because number one – none of my videos had ever done that before. And number two – I said ‘one,’ and God said, ‘I can do abundantly more.”
As Katy read the comments, (which she says she usually stays away from), she didn’t see a single hate comment on that video. It was just people saying, “This is what I needed to hear today.”
So, if you feel led to ask the Lord to speak to someone through the gifts and talents he’s given you, don’t hesitate to do so. You never know how God will use you to touch someone’s heart and change their life.
