Radical Stewardship: Are you prepared?

“It’s not the will to win that matters – everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.”

These are the wise words of Bear Bryant, legendary coach of the University of Alabama football team. But you know, it’s a biblical principle too.

Think for a moment about Joseph, the son of Jacob in the book of Genesis. He didn’t know he’d be sold into slavery or thrown into jail… but he was prepared when it happened. And because he was prepared, he glorified God in his hardship, and saved his family and a nation.

It’s also true on a smaller scale. “The ants are a people not strong,” says Proverbs, “yet they provide their food in the summer” (Proverbs 30:25).

And if God can use the tiny ants to show people how to live, surely He can use you and me!

That’s where the principle of preparation kicks in. So today, let’s have the will to prepare! Prepare for tough financial times. Prepare for blessings too. Honor God, be faithful, give generously, be a radical steward – no matter what. Not only will your preparation pay off in your own life, but you’ll be a blessing to others around you too.
