God Has Big Shoulders

As a Christian, you most likely believe God is your father. But have you ever thought about what it means for God to be your father? Have you ever considered the depth of His love for you, His child?

You saw what he did in the wilderness, how God, your God, carried you as a father carries his child, carried you the whole way until you arrived here.

– Deuteronomy 1:31 MSG

When you were a child, your parents likely carried you on their shoulders, giving you a view of the world that you couldn’t see on your own. They carried you when you were tired or when you couldn’t walk on your own. In the same way, God carries you through the trials and struggles of life (Deuteronomy 1:31).

In Isaiah 46:3-4, God says, “Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from before your birth, carried from the womb; even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save” (ESV).

God loves you unconditionally, no matter what you have done or will do.

God’s love for you is unconditional, just like a parent’s love should be for their child. In 1 John 3:1, it says, “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are” (ESV). God’s love for you is not based on your performance, but on His grace and mercy. God loves you unconditionally, no matter what you have done or will do.

God is your loving and caring father, who carries you on His shoulders through the ups and downs of life. He loves you unconditionally, provides for you and wants the best for you. So, rest in His love and trust in His care for you.

Today’s One Thing

Surrender your burdens to God today. Sometimes we try to carry our burdens on our own, but God invites you to give them to Him (Matthew 11:28-30). Surrendering your burdens to God doesn’t mean you won’t face difficulties, but it means that you can trust that He will carry you through them.
