Maintaining a Godly Perspective

You may not feel it emotionally or even believe it intellectually, but it’s still true. God is working in your life, even when it seems like it’s falling apart.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
─ Philippians 4:8 ESV

Helen knew her friend, Shelly was dealing with a death in the family at the same time her husband’s work hours had been cut back, causing severe financial difficulties. It was heart wrenching to think about it. Helen’s heart went out to Shelley, and when the two finally could meet in person, she asked, “How are you coping?”

Shelley quoted Philippians 4:8, “Whatever is true…noble…right…pure…lovely…admirable…excellent or praiseworthy…think on these things.”

Helen smiled. The look on Shelly’s face told Helen her friend was living in that Scripture.

Perspective makes all the difference.

It all comes down to whether you choose to see your cup half-full or half-empty. Perspective makes all the difference.

Remember, the Lord is still able … and He’s promised never to leave you or forsake you as you trust and draw near to Him.

Today’s One Thing

If you’re going through a terrible trial today, take a moment and ponder:

  • The intentionality of God.
  • That God intentionally loves you.
  • That God intentionally wants to help you.
  • That God will help you live intentionally every day.
