Make God’s Strength Your Song

Your past few days may have been a whirlwind of tasks, responsibilities and a few unexpected curveballs. Amidst the chaos, your mind is racing with what’s next on your to-do list. Perhaps today is another day just like those. But let’s pause for a moment and consider a different kind of journey—the Israelites’ escape from Egypt. They faced an impossible situation.

The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

– Exodus 15:2 ESV

The Israelites stood with the Red Sea in front of them and Pharaoh’s army behind them. Yet, God made a way where there seemed to be none. After their miraculous deliverance, Moses sang, “The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory” (Exodus 15:2 NIV).

Likely you face your own Red Seas—challenges that seem insurmountable. And just like them, you have a God who is your strength and your song. He’s your personal source of power and joy.

God is your personal source of power and joy.

Remember Paul’s words in Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (NIV). Even when you’re stuck in traffic, running late or dealing with a difficult family situation, God is weaving those threads, however frayed they may seem, into a tapestry of His design.

Choose to focus on God’s strength and make it your song. Doing so doesn’t mean you’re ignoring your problems, but instead you’re placing them in the hands of Someone who can actually do something about them. You’re acknowledging that even in the chaos, God is your constant, and His song is one of victory, peace and unending love.

So go ahead, hit play on that playlist and let the music elevate your soul. As you listen, remember that the Lord is your strength and your song, and He’s already given you the victory.
