The Heart of Christmas

During the Christmas season, when the world shimmers with lights and echoes with carols (What’s your favorite Christmas carol?), it’s easy to get lost in the festivities (See, you’re still thinking about that Christmas carol question). Yet, in the midst of all the merriment, pause for a moment and consider the profound significance of this season. You know Christmas isn’t just about carols, decorations and gifts; it’s about the birth of a Savior.

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life—the life was made manifest.

– 1 John 1:1-2 ESV

The very Word of God, the Creator of the universe, chose to become flesh to dwell among us. God with us is the heart of what we celebrate at Christmas. The Word, who was with God from the beginning, who was God, took on human form. He entered the world, not as a mighty conqueror but as a humble baby born in a stable.

Christmas is more than a carol. Christmas is all because of Jesus.

This act of God incarnate demonstrates His deep love for you. He refused to remain distant and remote but came intimately close. He chose to experience humanity in all its joys, sorrows, triumphs and trials. In doing so, He revealed His glory, marked by grace and truth.

As you celebrate this Christmas with carols, lights and food, remember that God’s presence is with you in your daily life, in your joys and struggles. Hold on to His hope and the enduring truth that God is with you, bringing His grace to sustain you and guide you during this season.
