TUCSON, AZ (August 9, 2021) — Family Life Radio (FLR) is pleased to announce Dave Moore as their new afternoon host and assistant program director.
Dave will bring his dynamic personality to FLR, sharing his life in a way that will help our listeners have fun all while providing a message of hope every day. We welcome him to our growing family of over 41 stations across the nation.
“Dave Moore is an amazing air talent with 20 years of experience spanning from time on the Wall Street Journal Radio Network and as the afternoon host at the number one AC station in the nation, B101.1, to most recently with Star99 in NY. Dave is an awesome storyteller, and I can’t wait to hear him as he builds a relationship with our listeners,” said Mike Kankelfritz, director of programming.
Dave says, “Joining the team at Family Life Radio has been a dream of mine for years. The opportunity to encourage listeners and spread hope across FLR’s nationwide network is seriously the highlight of my career. So thankful!”

Press Release: June 17, 2021 – Listeners Celebrate Life by Donating 33,000 Baby Gifts
For Immediate Release
In Support of Local Community Pregnancy Centers
TUCSON, AZ (June 17, 2021) — Over 1,000 families in 11 states were impacted as part of Family Life Radio’s (FLR) Fifth Annual Ultimate Baby Shower, which saw record-breaking donations of over 33,000 baby gifts.
Listeners showed up to one of the 26 FLR hosted baby showers or visited one of 88 drop off locations in their city with their donations of diapers, bottles, car seats and more. In addition to donations, listeners stood on sidewalks in their communities to “cheer on life.”
“We realize now more than ever the importance of celebrating life. This provided our listeners with the opportunity to show their support for families in need in a very tangible way,” said Evan Carlson, president of FLR.
“It’s a wonderful blessing to see listeners across the country shower moms and babies with hope by bringing in their donations to their local community pregnancy centers,” said Sally Barton, FLR’s chief broadcast engagement officer.
FLR began hosting the Ultimate Baby Shower several years ago in an effort to meet the needs of families in local communities. Thanks to the support of listeners and businesses, the campaign has been able to grow more and more with each year.

Press Release: May 6, 2021 – FLR Listeners Help Neighbors in Need
For Immediate Release
FLR Listeners Help Neighbors in Need
TUCSON, AZ (May 6, 2021) — Nearly twenty Family Life Radio (FLR) listeners helped supply the needs of others through the Love Your Neighbor campaign. Appliances, gas cards and more were provided as part of this annual event that encourages supporting and loving others as Jesus did.
FLR aired calls from listeners nominating their neighbors who had made an impact on their lives, but who were also in need of a blessing. Members of their own communities, and even those in other states, selflessly stepped in to assist.
Irma in Texas received a makeover with a new wig, and a new refrigerator was given to Debbie in Michigan, both women are battling cancer. Gas cards were given to Enrique in New Mexico who runs a food truck serving hot meals to the homeless. Two listeners from separate states banded together to provide a getaway for Patricia in Texas, who recently lost her husband to COVID.
“To see Family Life Radio listeners rally together across the country to help each other in times of desperation shows a true representation of what Jesus called us to do and that is to love one another,” said Mike Kankelfritz, director of programming for FLR.
“I was so touched by the story of David and Shirley from Georgia who weekly feed over 80 kids in need at their home as part of their Hot Dog Club. We were honored to bless them with a weekend getaway along with new outdoor umbrellas for their backyard picnic tables,” said Sally Barton, chief broadcast engagement officer for FLR.
We ended the campaign with a free virtual concert by Black River Entertainment artist, Josh Wilson, for all our listeners to celebrate what God had done.

Press Release: April 25, 2021 – Longtime Family Life Radio On-Air Host to Retire
For Immediate Release
Longtime Family Life Radio On-Air Host to Retire
TUCSON, AZ (April 25, 2021) — Family Life Radio (FLR) afternoon host and WUGN general manager Peter Brooks is retiring after serving the ministry for 44 years.
After spending most of his 48-year radio career with FLR, Brooks filled a variety of show host positions from mornings to afternoons, while also managing stations in Michigan and New Mexico.
Brooks shared on his experience, “The Bible says, ‘There is a time for everything and a season for every activity.’ My broadcasting season is ending, and the time to hang up my headphones has arrived. Over the decades, the programming and music may have changed; but the heart, mission and integrity of Family Life Radio and its leadership have never changed. And through those years, my co-workers and listeners have truly been family. Words cannot express my thankfulness to God and this ministry for the blessings I have experienced serving here.”
Peter will be greatly missed not only by the ministry’s staff but also by listeners. “Peter has faithfully dedicated most of his life to serving the Lord through Family Life Radio. He has been a pioneer and one of the backbones of this ministry. I am extremely grateful for his dedication and ‘here to serve attitude!’ I join thousands of Family Life Radio listeners who will miss Peter greatly,” said Mike Kankelfritz, director of programming.
Evan Carlson, ministry president, said, “Peter Brooks is the embodiment of Matthew 25:23. When I think of a good and faithful servant, Peter’s name is at the top of that list. There is no debate, Family Life Radio will forever be impacted by the excellence and passion that Peter brought to this ministry. We wish him the absolute best in this next chapter of his life.”
Peter’s final day with the ministry will be Friday, May 7, 2021. He plans to travel and spend time with family. While it will be hard to replace the role Peter served, FLR is currently accepting applications for an on-air host position through their website.
